In many remote and industrial applications, customers already have a battery enclosure or are designing their own battery bank. What they often need is a reliable, properly engineered solar charging assembly that integrates cleanly into that system. SunWize PVK assemblies were designed specifically for that role.
PVK stands for Photovoltaic Kit. These assemblies provide the complete solar charging side of a battery-based power system, without forcing customers into a bundled battery or enclosure they may not need.
What is a PVK Assembly?
A SunWize PVK assembly is a factory-built solar kit that includes all the components required to safely and reliably charge a 12V battery system from solar. Each PVK includes:
- A solar module(s) array
- A structural mount for the module
- An integrated charge controller
- Pre-wired output cabling to connect directly to a customer’s battery enclosure
The result is a clean, field-ready solar charging solution that reduces installation time, wiring errors, and component mismatch.
Designed for Battery-Based Systems
PVK assemblies are intended for systems that already include batteries, or where the customer is specifying their own battery bank. Typical applications include remote monitoring, telemetry, sensors, pipeline instrumentation, traffic devices, and other low-power loads.
Rather than sizing and sourcing individual solar components, customers can deploy a PVK knowing the solar module, controller, wiring, and mounting hardware are already matched and tested as a system.
Integrated Charge Controller Where it Matters
One of the defining features of the PVK design is the integrated charge controller. The Morningstar SunKeeper charge controller is epoxy encapsulated, rated for outdoor use, and mounted directly inside the solar module junction box. This eliminates the need for a separate controller enclosure and creates a sealed, weather-tight connection point.
By integrating the controller at the module level, PVK assemblies simplify installation and support long-term battery health, especially in unattended or difficult-to-access locations
Dual-Module Configuration for Practical Power Levels
The NEW SunWize PVK assemblies are available in 40W and 60W configurations, using two 12V solar modules per kit. This dual-module approach allows SunWize to deliver practical charging capacity while maintaining consistent electrical characteristics and compliance ratings.
Both configurations are UL listed and C1D2 rated, making them suitable for hazardous and industrial environments where safety and compliance are required.
Mounting Designed for Real-World Installations
Each PVK includes an aluminum, adjustable side-of-pole mount designed around established industry practices. These mounts have been deployed in thousands of installations worldwide and are engineered to accommodate common SCH40 pole sizes using standard banding hardware.
This approach allows PVK assemblies to be installed on existing infrastructure without custom fabrication or field modification.
Typical Applications
PVK assemblies are commonly used in applications such as:
- Remote monitoring and telemetry
- Pipeline and utility infrastructure
- Traffic and transportation systems
- Environmental sensing and data logging
- Industrial control and automation
They are best suited for low-power loads, typically under 5 watts at 12V, where consistent battery charging and long-term reliability are critical.
A Clean Interface Between Solar and Storage
At their core, PVK assemblies are designed to serve as the interface between solar generation and customer-supplied energy storage. By delivering a complete, pre-engineered solar charging assembly, SunWize allows customers to focus on their batteries, loads, and application requirements without reinventing the solar side of the system.
For customers who need dependable solar charging without unnecessary complexity, PVK assemblies provide a proven, field-ready solution.
