What the ReadyEdge Site Manager Does

At its core, the ReadyEdge sits above individual charge controllers and acts as the central communications point for an entire site. From this position, it gathers data from multiple Morningstar controllers and connected devices. That information, therefore, becomes available remotely through the Morningstar Solar Connect portal.

Rather than logging into devices one at a time, operators can instead view how the entire system is performing from a single interface. For example, this includes generation, storage, loads, and auxiliary sources. As a result, troubleshooting becomes faster and system management becomes more efficient, especially at remote or critical infrastructure sites.

As part of Morningstar’s Integrated Series, the ReadyEdge was developed with a clear goal. Specifically, it expands the capabilities of the Professional Series controllers by adding broader site management functionality.

  A single ReadyEdge communicates with multiple Morningstar controllers at a site and pulls that data into one clear view. Consequently, operators can quickly assess overall system health and identify trends without digging through individual devices.

  ReadyEdge provides calculated state of charge, monitors multiple charge sources, and tracks load consumption. As a result, operators gain a clearer understanding of how energy moves through the system, rather than relying solely on what a single controller reports.

  In hybrid systems, ReadyEdge actively manages generator starts or auxiliary charging based on real operating conditions. Therefore, off-grid applications benefit from reduced unnecessary generator runtime while still maintaining system reliability.

  Through direct digital interfaces with supported lithium battery management systems, operators gain access to internal battery data that traditional charge controller communications often do not provide. Moreover, this data improves confidence in long-term battery performance.

  Support for protocols such as MODBUS and SNMP allows system data to integrate directly into SCADA systems, network management platforms, or customer-specific software. The ReadyEdge hardware pairs with the Morningstar Solar Connect web portal to provide secure and scalable access to system data across individual sites or entire fleets. Together, they create a centralized view that simplifies system oversight.

Through the portal, users can organize sites, assign roles and permissions, and view dashboards with proactive alerts. In addition, the platform allows customization of how system data is displayed. Consequently, organizations experience fewer site visits, faster issue resolution, and improved long-term performance tracking when managing large numbers of remote systems.
