Design and Engineering

• Trackers pivot your solar panels on either a single axis or a double axis, changing their orientation as the sun moves across the sky. SunWize has installed both active tracking systems and passive tracking systems for our solar tracker clients

• Active trackers utilize a computer system to determine optimal angle of the solar panel, and motors and gears adjust the position of the solar panels accordingly

• Passive trackers use fluid that is driven to one side or the other by solar heating. This causes the tracker to move in response to an imbalance

Other Considerations

Engineering of solar tracker systems is more complicated and requires specialized expertise. The system should be designed to take local seismic factors and wind loads into consideration. It should be built with highly reliable components to minimize the downtime associated with moving parts in a harsh environment. A backtracking program that eliminates the possibility of shading during periods of low-horizon sunshine should be considered.
